The Cosmo is fitted with an Autoterm 2kW diesel heater. The heater is located underneath the vehicle below the driver's seat. The inlet is in the driver's doorstep; the outlet is behind the driver's seat on the floor. The controls are on the wall above the cooker.
Do not place any objects on the floor behind the driver's seat that block the heater's outlet.
Starting the heater
Look for the black control dial on the wall above the bench.
Press the power button once (the bottom left button).
The status light beside the power button will illuminate.
The heater will begin its startup sequence: the fan starts, the glow plug ignites, and the fuel pump starts ticking.
Stay patient: the warmup process takes a few minutes, then warm air should appear.
Setting the heat
Turn the rotary knob: clockwise = warmer, counter-clockwise = cooler.
What the lights mean
Solid yellow/green: operating normally.
Flashing light: starting up, shutting down, or indicating a fault condition.
Turning the heater off
Press the power button once (bottom left button).
The heater will continue running for several minutes - this is normal, it is cooling itself down and cleaning the combustion chamber.
Never disconnect power during this process. Do not turn off the touch screen until the heater has completely shut down on its own.
Ventilation mode (fan only)
Press the ventilation/fan button (the top left button) and the heater will circulate air without producing heat.
Best settings
Cold night (0-5°C): knob around 70-90% clockwise.
Mild night (8-12°C): knob around 50-70% clockwise.
Troubleshooting
Make sure the vehicle has sufficient diesel in its fuel tank - once the level reaches 25% of a tank the heater will not work.
Check the battery has at least 12 volts (shown on the digital control screen).
If the status light is flashing, please contact Spaceships via freephone, email or WhatsApp (see our contact page).
