The Cosmo VW Campervan runs on diesel - unlike the other Spaceships campervans, which have petrol engines. The diesel tank also serves both the diesel heater and the diesel hob.
Keep the tank above a quarter - best above half
The diesel connection to the heater and hob is set to work from 25% of the fuel tank upwards. If the diesel level drops below 25%, the hob and heater will not function. This is designed to avoid running out of diesel and being stuck with no fuel.
Important: keep the fuel tank well above half full when camping out in your Cosmo. If you will be camping in the same spot for an extended period - particularly in colder months when you could be running the heater for longer periods - it is best to fuel up fully.
Backup cooking option
If the fuel level does drop below 25% and the diesel hob stops working, there are two backup portable cookers with 2 gas cans stored under the squab of the swivel bench seat.
Care warning
The fuel line for the hob and heater connects via a T-section join about midway on the underside of the vehicle on the driver's side, located above the vehicle protection plate. Care needs to be taken not to damage this connection during repair work or by driving the vehicle off road.
