The Cosmo is fitted with a Webasto x100 diesel cooktop (2-burner hob).
Turning on the hob
First turn on the touch screen and turn on Master Power (if not already on).
Press the "Hob" button on the touch screen - this gives power to the hob.
Press the top "on" button on the hob controller located on the splash back next to the hob.
The hob takes approximately 3 minutes to warm up before the surface starts getting hot.
The dial (1-6) controls the temperature.
Note: the second button on the control panel is for cooking at high altitude (it changes the air/diesel mix). Do not use this button.
Safety
Never use the hob as a secondary heater.
Do not cover the vent holes above the fridge when the hob is in use.
The hob is fitted with a failsafe to prevent it being accidentally turned on.
The stove is very fuel-efficient (as little as 0.02 gal/h), so you can safely boil water or cook soups without the stove turning off.
Turning off the hob
Press the top button on the hob controller.
The hob performs a warm down sequence of about 5 minutes.
Only after the warm down is complete can the "Hob" button on the touch screen be pressed.
During the warm down the hob must have power - do not press the touch screen "Hob" button until the warm down cycle is completed. It is very important that the hob is allowed to follow its cool down procedure to prevent overheating and damage.
Troubleshooting
Low battery: the cooker takes a lot of power to warm the glow plug before it can start burning diesel. If the battery is very low it cannot complete the warmup - this can be temporarily fixed by running the vehicle during the startup procedure.
No diesel: the hob pumps diesel for about 30 seconds at the end of the warmup; if it gets no diesel it will give an error. Keep more than a quarter of a tank of fuel. If you previously let the hob or heater run until the fuel level dropped below the pickup point (1/4 tank), the line will be filled with air - it may take 2 or 3 warm up procedures and errors before it works again.
Incorrect shutdown: if power to the hob is turned off before the end of the warm down procedure, there may be an error on the next startup.
Fault codes show as flashing light patterns on the control panel - see the Webasto instructions in the Cosmo manual (PDF).
If the fuel level is below 25% and the hob stops working, use the backup portable cookers stored under the squab of the swivel bench seat.
