Every Spaceships booking of at least 5 days will come with a free SIM card (yours to keep). You'll find the FREE SIM CARD inside your campervan, above the stereo area.

The free NZ SIM card is a Prepay SIM card, just like the one you use at home. It comes in three sizes (standard, micro and nano), you pop out the one that fits in your phone. Or you can go for an eSIM.

The SIM card itself is free, you just need to select and purchase data and/or minutes. All you need to do is pop it in your (simlock-free phone), activate it - this can be done by using free WiFi at our depots - and top it up / add a minutes and/or data package. If you go for the eSIM option you can activate your NZ number and download the eSIM before you arrive in New Zealand.

We use the following mobile provider.... 2degrees - More info about the 2degrees SIM card or the 2degrees eSIM and the data/minutes/text packs that are available for you as a new 2degrees customer.

Both providers are great and have mobile coverage throughout New Zealand and offer affordable prepay plans.

Advantages of the 2degrees SIM

  • Hotspotting/tethering - Let other devices, family or friends use your data to get connected to the internet by turning on the personal hotspot on your phone.

  • Carryover - Any data you do not use in a month will carry over to the next month if you keep your plan active.

  • Free Data Hour - You choose an hour every day and all data used during that time is free, extending your data by an hour per day.

  • WiFi Calling - Landscapes and buildings can interrupt even the best coverage - WiFi Calling ensures you can still make, take and deny calls.

  • Unlimited Calls - You can make an unlimited amount of calls to other 2degrees mobiles in New Zealand & Australia.
