Being able to connect with fellow travellers, the people at home or simply to have the option to call or use the internet is important when going on a road trip. On your New Zealand road trip - and specifically your #SpaceshipsRoadTrip 🖖 - there are several options to stay connected.

Local SIM card for mobile data & calling (minutes)

Your Spaceships campervan comes with a free NZ SIM card. That's a physical SIM card you simply add money to or a bundle of minutes and/or data, so you can call local numbers in New Zealand or overseas numbers (minutes) and connect to the internet (data).

The free local SIM card will be waiting for you in your Spaceships campervan. You just need to activate it and top it up or add a package of minutes for calling and/or data for using the internet.

eSIM for just data & connecting to the internet

If data / connecting to the internet is important to you and you prefer an eSIM so you are connected from the moment you land in New Zealand, an eSIM for travellers would be a great option for you - and you'll get an extra discount on any eSIM plan.

Using free WiFI on your road trip

Your Spaceships campervan doesn't come with WiFi but there are several options to connect to free WiFi when on the road in New Zealand.

  • Local libraries are free to access and most of them offer free wifi. Perfect to sit & relax, have a coffee, read some books or magazines, charge your devices and use the free wifi.

  • Various services petrol stations in New Zealand, for example BP, offer free WiFi. A perfect moment to fuel up, have some coffee, relax and use the free WiFi.
