Fuel Prices in New Zealand (October 2026)
Just like everywhere around the world, fuel prices in New Zealand continue to fluctuate. As of late October 2026, the national averages are about NZ$ 3.57 per litre for 91 petrol and about NZ$ 3.21 per litre for diesel. Prices differ a bit per region and per station, so use the links below to check current prices on your road trip.

Most Spaceships campervans run on 91 petrol. The exception is the Cosmo VW Campervan, which runs on diesel. Good to know: diesel prices at the pump do not include Road User Charges (RUC). For the Cosmo, RUC are NZ$76 per 1,000 km ($0.076 per kilometre) and are calculated and charged when you return the camper.

The fuel capacity of the Estima-based Spaceships campervans is 60 litres. The Cosmo VW Campervan has a 70-litre fuel tank. Being a diesel, the Cosmo is also subject to Road User Charges (RUC).

Travel tip: It is best to fill up in the built-up areas as petrol prices are normally slightly cheaper than in rural areas.
