What is a relocation fee? When does it apply?

A relocation fee is a fee that we have to add to your booking when you don't drop off the campervan at the agreed location, a drop-off without our permission. For example, when you have booked a campervan and have selected Auckland as the pick-up and drop-off location, we expect you to pick up the campervan in Auckland and drop it off again in Auckland. If you - for whatever reason - decide to leave the vehicle elsewhere, even if that location is a Spaceships depot, we have no choice but to apply a relocation fee.

Why? Well, because our planning department is expecting the campervan to be returned at the agreed location. The next customer is waiting for that particular vehicle at that particular location. If the campervan is dropped off elsewhere we have to urgently move that vehicle to the location where we were expecting to see that vehicle. Moving a vehicle urgently is expensive, therefore a relocation fee is needed to cover these costs.

See our Terms & Conditions for more info about the relocation fee.
