The rear awning is water resistant. It will hold out light to moderate rain but when it starts to rain really hard, it is best to not use it an stay inside the campervan. The material of the rear awning is great and can withstand a lot. However, if the bed board and mattress are touching the edge of the canvas of the rear awning, these can absorb some water.
