Does a Spaceship classify as car or campervan when booking the ferry?

Booking the ferry to go from the North Island to the South Island (or vice versa) is easy. Your Spaceships campervan classifies as the smallest vehicle (car < 5.5 metres long), so you can select the cheapest rate.

There are two ways to book the ferry:

  1. Book the ferry yourself, directly with the ferry company: Bluebridge or InterIslander.

  2. Book the ferry via Spaceships!

    1. Add a Ferry Voucher to your booking - when booking your campervan or via the Online Check-in Portal.

    2. Fill out the Ferry Booking Request Form to lock in your ferry dates and get your FLEXIBLE TICKET issued. If your plans change you can change the sailing date as it is a flexible ticket (subject to availability though)

We recommend booking the ferry as soon as possible. It's not just in the busy summer season - December to March - that ferries are fully booked. This also happens in other months due to weather disruptions or mechanical issues. The sooner you book the ferry via a flexible ticket - direct or via Spaceships - the more peace of mind you'll have roadtrippin' in New Zealand.
