Spaceships campervans come with gas cooker / gas stoves included (2 in total: see for more info). These Gasmate (or similar quality brand) tabletop & travel gas cookers are easy to use.
They run on butane, small-ish hairspray-like gas canisters that can be purchased at many outdoor shops, department stores or camping stores around New Zealand.
How to insert a gas canister
Make sure the stove it turned off
Take the gas canister and remove the cap
Insert the gas canister into the stove. Make sure the little spray nozzle at the top is inserted correctly and that the can is aligned correctly. The space in the rim of the canister needs to be at the top so the locking mechanism can secure the canister.
Push the locking level down so the can gets locked in. If the locking lever is hard to move, make sure the space in the rim is aligned correctly.
See images and video below for more info.
How to ignite the gas cooker and start cooking
The gas cooker has a built-in ignition system, making it easy and safe to start cooking.
Push and turn the ignition knob anti-clockwise past the ‘lightning flash’ symbol position until a click is heard.
If the burner fails to light, immediately turn the ignition knob to ‘OFF’ position and repeat Step 1.
Flame can be controlled by turning the ignition knob between the ‘ HIGH’ and ‘LOW’ position.
How to turn off the gas stove
To turn the gas cooker off, turn the ignition knob to ‘OFF’ to shut off fuel supply. Wait until the flame is fully extinguished before raising the cartridge lever to ‘UNLOAD’ and remove the gas cartridge from the compartment. Do not leave the gas cartridge inside the unit when not in use or storing the stove.
